 Rosario,
in Santa Fe province, is one of the most important cities in the country,
due to its population as well as to its incidence in the overall economy
of the country. Over the years, it has been the cradle of many important
artists, especially singers, and footballers. Rosario gained importance
at the end of the XVIIIth century, when it became a useful port in order
to dodge custom controls in Buenos Aires during the independence wars.
Years later, the local government placed a military settlement there,
where on 7 February 1812 General Belgrano hoisted the national flag for
the first time. At the beginning of this century, thanks to the crops
trade, Rosario became a city of great architectural value, becoming more
important than Santa Fe, the official capital of the province. Rosario
offers an incredible number of cultural activities which are also amazing
in quality. The vital independent theatre is paramount, as well as popular
non-folkloric music.

 Paraná
means “Father of the rivers” in Guarani. The city is surrounded
by the rivers Paraná, Uruguay, Mocoretá and Guayquiraró
and is the capital city of the Entre RĂos Province. As ColĂłn
is the “paradise City”, Paraná is known as the “Lanscape
city”. It is unnecessary to explain why: the natural beauty of its
Paraná river coast (the biggest in Latin American after the Amazon)
clearly confirms this assertion. In this area it is usual to find small
islands, most of them virgin, with isolated beaches. The Paraná
River is characterised by having a great variety of fishes, which attracts
those interested in sports fishing. The river, its islands, the green
hills and natural and artificial forests constitute the perfect habitat
for diverse bird species and make it the ideal place for photo safaris.
This city counts with many important historic buildings due its past historical
relevance. In 1852, the Argentinean Confederation was declared, led by
General Justo José de Urquiza. The city was chosen as the capital
of the Confederation, as it became separate from Buenos Aires as an autonomous
state. During this period, buildings were built in accordance with the
importance the city had acquired: the Government House, the Legislative
Palace, the theatre, the market, among others. It is better to see the
town centre on foot. A good starting point is the Primero de Mayo Square.
It was the first to be built in the city, the point at which the fort
which protected the city was located. At present, the visitor can see
around it the Colegio del Huerto, the Post Office, the Social Club, the
Escuela Normal and the Town Hall, all of which are worth visiting.

 Known
as “ the city of the waterfalls”, Puerto Iguazú resembles
a modern island, so picturesque in the midst of such magnificent virgin
nature. Only 15 kilometres separate this port from the virgin jungles
in the National Park IguazĂş, one of the most important ecological
treasures of our planet, due to the biodiversity it displays. It offers
one of the most impressive natural scenes on earth: the Falls. The Falls
have between 160 and 270 waterfalls which, depending on the river volume;
reach a maximum front of almost 3 kilometres and a height of about 70
metres. Among the falls, the Devil’s Throat, made up of several
falls in a semicircle of about 200 mt. width and 90 mt. height, is a major
highlight. Steam and the noise of water give the landscape a distinctive
halo of mystery. The thick green jungles around the falls –which
have been declared, as well as the falls, Patrimony of Humanity- are the
ideal place to go on photo safaris and discovering “ what cannot
be seen” or for going horse-riding along the narrow paths in order
to see the most amazing varieties of birds, flowers, insects, reptiles
and there, where vegetation gets scarce, get in touch with some aboriginal
communities.
Given its
unique natural beauty, Puerto Iguazu is visited by hundreds of tourists
every year. The city is prepared for lodging travellers of all budgets
and needs. It can offer four and five-star international hotels (among
them, the Cataratas Hotel, and the most modern one, the Casino Hotel),
as well as cabins, hostels and camping sites. A tourist spot par excellence,
Puerto IguazĂş offers a wide range of water sports, the chance to
listen to singing birds and to explore the fascinating possibilities of
ecotourism.

 “Paradise
City” is Colon’s slogan. And it says it all. It is worth travelling
to Entre Rios just to see this city, one of the main tourist attractions
in this province due to its natural beauty and its interesting historic
buildings. The first constitutional president, the General Justo José
de Urquiza, founded this city, the capital of the department, which bears
the same name, in 1863. On the day of its foundation, Urquiza said “the
most beautiful place on the Uruguay River coast”. He was right.:
now the city is the province tourism capital. In spite of being an important
city, it is ideal for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of
big cities, seeking for peace. It often happens that cities are not as
attractive as their surrounding areas. This is not the case with Colon,
a natural balcony next to the Uruguay river (“Birds river”
in guarani), full of little islands and streets lined by trees. The traveller
can find in Colon optimal services to meet his/her every need, ranging
from international hotels to camping spots with all necessary comforts..
This city is home to one of the most important festivals in the province:
the National Handicraft Fair, which takes place in February in the traditional
Quiros Park and in which the most important artisans in Latin America
meet. Across the international Artigas bridge, close to the city, the
traveller can reach PaysandĂş, in the neighbouring country of Uruguay.
